For many people living in Australia, education is not a simple matter of trotting down to the local school. Vast distances and special requirements have nevertheless been overcome in innovative and often unique ways. This issue's Outback Story covers some of them. From the legendary School of the Air to Queensland's School for Travelling Show Children to the delivery of specialist tertiary courses by institutions such as Geelong's Marcus Oldham College, dedicated educators are working to ensure that quality learning is not restricted to those within striking distance of a schoolyard.
