Boot tree dreaming

Barry Dew has worn R.M.Williams boots and clothing for all of his adult life, but it’s only been in the past four years that he has been able to preach what he practices. “It probably took me two years to get this RM franchise in Alice Springs,” he says with a chuckle, “but it’s been worth it”.
Barry is proprietor of the Aboriginal Dreamtime Gallery and the Bush
Store, two shops sitting on opposite sides of the red centre city’s famous
Todd
Mall. “I’ve had the Dreamtime Gallery for 15 years now, and we opened the
Bush Store a few years ago to accommodate the R.M.Williams gear,” Barry
says. The Dreamtime Gallery, as the name suggests, showcases a wonderful
range
of Aboriginal art and artefacts. The business also has a large section
devoted to souvenirs and clothing. For Barry, it was a logical extension
of the popularity
of RM.Williams products among the large number of tourists who come through
his shop to stretch out and go for the franchise.
