OUTBACK LIFE
What comes naturally
Story and photos Stephan Miechel
Nestled high on an isolated
hilltop, overlooking a picturesque valley near Mansfield, Victoria, the Wrangler
Jayne Ranch mysteriously blends into this stereotypical Man from Snowy River
scenery. Hoofbeats thud over lush pastured ground as a family of Arabian
horses playfully gallop toward 'Wrangler Jayne' on her command, followed
closely by 'Spirit' - a young black brumby colt.

'Spirit' was recently captured from the high country and now, only five months
old, has a level of training and trust in humans that many pleasure horses
rarely develop in a lifetime. His education is a credit to a talented and dedicated
lady who until as recently as eight years ago knew nothing about horses. In
fact Jayne Glenn is an accomplished artist, and became interested in pleasure
horses only after moving back to Australia from America in 1995.
