Rodeo action at Longreach
One of the highlights of the July weekend of celebrations at the Australian
Stockman’s Hall of Fame was the Australian Professional Rodeo Association
(APRA) rodeo.

The event was organised by local long-time rodeo competitor
and enthusiast Sarah Hoad with help from the staff at the Australian Stockman’s
Hall of Fame. “This is the second year we have run the rodeo and it keeps
getting bigger,” Sarah says. “Steve Hilton from the APRA has been really
helpful and it
is a thrill to see the public support the event by turning up in droves.”
The venue, at the back of the Hall of Fame, was ideal for the event.
The massive windmill was an authentic backdrop for the bucking action.
After
team roping events in the afternoon, the rodeo got underway in the evening
and was jam-packed with action. The excellent bucking stock ensured the
competitors, who had travelled from all over, earned their prizemoney
on the night.
