Having lived and worked away for many years, artist Hamish MacDonald is now settled on the South Australian property where he was raised and where painting, family, and farming fill his life.

Hamish MacDonald's art is bright, bold and fast. There is an almost abstract flavour to his creations - speedy outlines and contours take shape on the canvas as he moves about in a blur. For Hamish, who lives and works on the family grazing property "Cluain", near Lucindale in South Australia, art is a successful vent to his abundant energy and creativity.

Home is in the art"Farming and art is a really good combination for me and I find that they work well together," Hamish says. "I'm pretty hyperactive and am not good at finding ways of relaxing. When I get into the studio I do relax - time flies and I paint. I also find that riding around behind a mob of sheep can be a very good place for ideas. I see things very clearly and have found some of my best inspiration on a motorbike," he laughs. Story end
